As a proud Ethiopian-American and a proud progressive running for Congress, I am honored to share my story with you. It is a story that has shaped who I am and what I stand for. My life history is marked by perseverance, determination, and resilience in the face of great obstacles.

Despite the challenges, I was determined to succeed. I worked hard in school and pursued my education with passion and dedication. Through hard work and perseverance, I was able to earn my degree and build a successful career.

Along the way, I never forgot where I came from or the struggles that I had overcome. I became deeply committed to fighting for the rights of working families and ensuring that everyone has access to the resources and opportunities they need to succeed.

If elected to Congress, I will bring this same spirit of determination and resilience to my work on behalf of the people of our community. I am committed to fighting for progressive values and advocating for policies that uplift all members of our society. Together, we can build a better future for ourselves, our children, and our community.
My Upbringing, My Faith, My Call to Serve!
When I was just 11, my family and I journeyed from Ethiopia, hearts brimming with dreams and determination. In the middle of two sisters, the rhythm of our household pulsed with hope and challenges. But my mother? She was an unyielding flame, lighting our path. Facing the convoluted American healthcare system for my sake, she taught us to defy the odds, always. Her fire became mine. As I grew, the glaring cracks and injustices in our healthcare system weren't just evident—they were personal. I witnessed the systemic struggles, the silent cries, the unheard pleas. No longer could I stand by. It's time to rise, to roar, to reshape the narrative. That's my rallying cry for Congress—to be the relentless voice for those muted by the system, to fiercely challenge the status quo, and to fight tooth and nail for an America that doesn't just promise, but delivers. Amidst all this, my Christian Orthodox faith wasn't just solace—it was fuel. It imbued me with love, compassion, and a zeal to uplift those left behind. In the halls of Congress, I pledge to ignite change, fueled by my mother's relentless spirit and my unwavering faith. Together, we'll fan the flames of justice, equality, and a future where every family's dream finds its rightful place in the sun!

I've walked the path of muscular dystrophy and experienced the unique rhythm of Hypernasal speech, but they're merely facets of my journey, not the entirety of my story. I've faced hurdles, yes, but I've also dreamt big, leapt high, and pushed through. Some see only my challenges, stopping at the surface. But each time I've been told "you can't," I've responded with "watch me." Every setback has only fueled my fire, every doubt just added to my drive. My spirit? Unyielding. My resolve? Unbreakable. And if you trust me with your vote for Congress, I'll channel that same grit and gusto to amplify the voices of those left unheard. Everyone deserves a shot at their dream, regardless of the cards they're dealt. Through the lens of my own journey, I'm driven to rally for the underrepresented.

From Alief Hastings to a Tech Visionary: My Journey Alief Hastings High School, Class of 2009, was where my tale began. Fired up by a zeal for technology, I embarked on a transformative educational expedition at ITT Tech, delving into the intricacies of computer network systems. It wasn't just about the wires and codes; it was about envisioning how tech could elevate our daily lives. The thirst for knowledge didn't stop there. At DeVry University, I honed my leadership flair, clinching a Bachelor of Science in Technical Management by 2016. It wasn't merely a certificate; it was a toolkit to navigate and lead in the ever-evolving tech landscape. Every step, every module, was fueled by an unwavering mission: to harness the might of technology for the greater good. I stand today, poised and passionate, eager to leverage my acumen to drive transformative change in our community.
Career and Leadership: A Pathway to Positive Change!
My professional journey has been one of continuous evolution and growth. At Hewlett-Packard, I began as a Test Technician Level 5, where every circuit and system further sharpened my technical prowess. The world of NEXT Financial Group saw me as a Technology Support Analyst, deciphering the vast maze of technology for those who found it bewildering.
As the gears shifted, I found myself in the driver's seat for Uber and Lyft. Here, it wasn't just about the roads; it was about grasping the intricate challenges of the gig economy. I felt the pulse of workers' struggles, recognizing the pressing need for fair compensation and sturdier worker rights in a shifting economic landscape.
Today, as a Contract Disaster Housing Inspector for DHS FEMA, I'm on the ground, reaching out to those battered by nature's fury, from Hurricane Harvey to Hurricanes Ian and Nicole. It's not just about structures; it's about the human stories behind them, and the resilience required to rebuild, brick by brick, memory by memory.
Rooted in these diverse experiences, I stand as an unwavering champion for the working individual. Advocating for just wages, robust worker safeguards, and policies that foster a thriving America is at the heart of my mission.
